Personalised Treatment Plans

For most people, a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. After your braces come off, you'll feel more self-confident. During your treatment, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible.

How Orthodontic Treatments Work
Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position. This is a great time to wear braces! Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can often choose brackets that are ceramic or metallic, and sometimes you can choose the colour of the ties that hold the wire in the brackets. Wires are also less noticeable than they used to be, and the latest technology provides materials that move teeth faster with less discomfort to patients.

Duration of Treatment
Treatment time typically ranges from one to three years, depending on a patients age, the growth of the patient's mouth and face, and the severity of the problem. Patients grow at various rates and will respond differently to orthodontic treatment, so the time until case completion may differ from the original estimate. Early treatment procedures, may take as few as six months.

Orthodontics has evolved tremendously in recent years and our Lane Orthodontics team have the expertise and the technology to assess and provide a range of orthodontic treatments specifically designed for you.

Invisalign® is an orthodontic product that is used to correct a number of different orthodontic issues and gives you a balanced, even smile. It involves the use of clear, removable aligners. This method of straightening teeth can be more flexible and is significantly less noticeable than traditional braces. It is used to treat all age groups starting with early orthodontics through to mature age patients.

Correcting severely misaligned jaws can sometimes require specialty orthoganic surgery. Dr Lane and his specialty team can provide the full range of surgical orthodontics to address even the most severe dental misalignment.

This is highly specialised orthodontics that focuses on the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with birth defects such as cleft lip and palate.
